Consul Cunanan Organizes Georgian Photo, Painting, and Film Exhibition to Celebrate 25th Independence Anniversary

IMG_9517To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Georgia’s Independence, Honorary Georgian Consul Thelmo Cunanan Jr organized a multi-media (photos, painting, movies) exhibition entitled “Discover Georgia”.

The event featured the photographs of famous Filipino journalist and travel blogger Riva Galveztan and the Georgian-inspired paintings of noted Filipino artist Pancho Piano. Ms. Galveztan was an official guest of the Georgian National Tourism Administration’s first official Philippine journalists’ familiarization trip to Georgia, which was organized by Consul Cunanan. Mr. Piano, on the other hand, was the first Filipino artist to formally showcase his work in the Georgian National Museum. His exhibit, entitled “Colors of Hope”, was organized by Consul Cunanan and held in the Shalva Amarinashvili Museum of Fine Arts in December 2014. Finally, “Discover Georgia” also featured four Georgian modern cinema masterpieces, courtesy of the Georgian National Film Center.

“Discover Georgia” was held in “The Learn Commons”, the library of De La Salle University, from May 23 – 27. DLSU is the official sister-library of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, a relationship established by Consul Cunanan.

From DLSU in Manila, the exhibition will travel to Baguio City for display at the Casa Vallejo Cultural Center, then to the Provincial Capital of Isabel province (Georgia’s first sister-province), then finally to Laoag City (Georgia’s second sister-city).
