Following a successful four-year term (2008 – 2012) as Board Director of San Miguel Corporation (San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Ltd), Consul Cunanan has been appointed adviser to the Hong Kong subsidiary by SMB HK Chairman and SMC President and Chief Operating Officer, Ramon S. Ang.

In his new position, Consul Cunanan will still attend the regular board meetings of SMB HK in the Special Autonomous Region and continue to provide counsel and business and policy insights to the chairman, directors, and top management of the company.

Established in the former Crown Colony in 1949, SMB HK is the first and oldest overseas unit of its parent company, SMC. The company maintains one brewery in Hong Kong and two in southern China. SMB HK has the second largest share of the Hong Kong beer market.

Consul Cunanan will also explore trade and investment opportunities in Georgia for SMB HK’s parent company, San Miguel Corporation, whose core business has been beer and beverages, but has since aggressively expanded to infrastructure development, power, transportation, services, etc.

The next SMB HK board meeting is scheduled in August.
