Consul Cunanan recently met with Hon. Reghis Romero III, the Supreme Commander of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, to receive a bust of the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

Consul Cunanan will personally bring the bust to Georgia, for installation in a prominent educational institution or government office as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the Georgian and Filipino people. Mr. Romero expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Honorary Georgian Consulate to honor Rizal and to promote Philippine culture, history, and heritage in Georgia. There are many busts of Rizal all over the world. However, the bust that Consul Cunanan will bring will be the first such statue of the Philippines’ national hero in the Caucasus region.

Accompanying Consul Cunanan to the headquarters of the Knights of Rizal was Public Relations Director Mel Dizon.
