On August 31, 2011, the Consulate of Georgia collaborated with the Embassy of Austria and The Hill Station Tapas Bar and Restaurant to organize and hold “Austria-Georgia Night” in Baguio City. The objective of the event was to increase awareness of the two countries and their cultures for residents of the Northern Philippines.
The highlights of the event were the performance of visiting Upper Austria Jazz Band “Stelzhamma” (with the special guest participation of Baguio-based Didgeridoo musician Raja Bonnevie); a European fusion cuisine dinner buffet; and an exhibit of photos of Georgian tourism and culture and posters from Austria. This was the first Georgian photo exhibit ever to be held in the Philippines. The pictures included typical scenes from the capital T’bilisi, along with beautiful landscape and human interest shots from the provinces of Mtskheta and Kakheti. Georgian and Austrian traditional folk songs and hymns and video documentaries were also played in the exhibition hall. Consul Cunanan hosted the event.
