In celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day, Honorary Georgian Consul Thelmo Cunanan, in partnership with the Georgian National Film Center and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, has organized the “Third Georgian Film Roadshow”, a showcase of the finest of Georgia’s modern cinematic masterpieces.

The event began in Metro Manila, with daily screenings at 4 p.m. from May 28 – 31, 2017, at the FDCP’s Cinematheque at 855 T.M. Kalaw Street, Manila. From the capital, the films are currently going around the country, in FDCP Theatres and other private and public venues. This year’s line-up consists of award-winning films of different genre that are representative of current socio-cultural and political issues in Georgia. These are “The Other Bank”, “Keep on Smiling”, “Salt White”, and “Conflict Zone”.

The story of Georgian cinema stretches back more than a century and is filled with remarkable achievements, from silent films featuring stunning landscapes and dynamic editing to subtle anti-Soviet critiques and startlingly inventive poetic narratives.
