Consul Cunanan Co-Produces and Guests in First Asia-Wide Program on Georgian Cuisine

Honorary Consul of Georgia Thelmo Cunanan Jr has co-produced and guested in the first Asia-wide television program dedicated exclusively to the promotion of Georgian Food and Wine. The show will be broadcast on Star World, Asia’s biggest general entertainment and lifestyle channel. Based out of Singapore, Star World reaches tens of millions of viewers all across Asian and further afield to the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa.

The TV special, an instalment of Star World’s “Foodtrip” program hosted by popular television and movie actress Heart Evangelista and celebrity chef Stephen Tagud, focused on Georgian specialties, whose recipes were provided by Consul Cunanan. The trio cooked the dishes live on camera. Consul Cunanan also took advantage of the program to promote Georgian wine and spirits, focusing on of Chateau Mukhrani’s Saperavi Dry Red Wine and Kakheti-based boutique wine maker Pheasant’s Tears specially-aged Chacha.

As part of the program, the hosts and Consul Cunanan also talked extensively about Georgian culture and tourism. Consul Cunanan has been a leading advocate of promoting Georgian tourism in the Philippines and in Asia. He has written numerous articles and produced many television shows to promote the country. He also works very closely with the Georgian National Tourism Administration and has led several groups of Philippine media and travel practitioners on tours all over Georgia. The GNTA has also been Consul Cunanan’s partner sponsoring Filipino artist Pancho Piano’s tour of Georgia. The latter’s paintings of Georgia went on tour in Eurpope last December, in partnership with the Embassy of Georgia in Slovakia, among others.
