Consul (a.h.) Thelmo Cunanan Jr recently paid an official courtesy call on Manila Mayor and former Philippine President Joseph Estrada at the latter’s office in City Hall. Consul Cunanan was accompanied by members of his staff and the media.
During the meeting, Consul Cunanan introduced Georgia to Mayor Estrada and discussed the different initiatives being carried out by the consulate to improve relations between the two countries and the engagements with numerous communities, government agencies, and public and private sector organizations based in the capital. Consul Cunanan cited the Georgian Consulate’s recent participation in Manila’s earthquake preparedness and environment clean-up programs. He also gifted Mayor Estrada with special “saperavi” wine, from the Kakheti wine-making region of Georgia.
Upon Consul Cunanan’s invitation, Mayor Estrada expressed great eagerness to officially visit Georgia. Consul Cunanan is currently working with Mayor Estrada’s staff on the latter’s official trip to Tbilisi, possibly in the second half of 2016.
