In March, Consul (a.h.) Thelmo O. Cunanan Jr was the official guest of the International Festival of Language and Culture, where he represented Georgia. The event, entitled “Colors of the World, is held annually in big cities of different countries. This year, it was held at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre, Resorts World, Manila.
The event was organized by the Pacific Dialogue Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and Arts, Department of Education, Department of Tourism, and National Youth Commission, to name a few.
The aim of the International Language and Culture Festival is to promote linguistic and cultural diversity by encouraging and motivating students in secondary schools and colleges to broaden their awareness of other countries’ arts and heritage. This year’s delegation included youth participants from fifteen countries, including the USA, Indonesia, France, Germany, Tanzania, Mongolia, and Romania.
All the delegates took turns showcasing their respective countries’ culture by performing songs and dances. Representing Georgia was Ms. Lizi Nokarishvili who sang the traditional Svanetian song “Me Miyvars Svaneti.” After the festival, Consul Cunanan congratulated Ms. Nokarishvili on her performance and bringing great pride and honor to Georgia.
