MERRY CHRISTMAS!! გილოცავთ შობა- ახალ წელს!
It’s Christmas Day in Georgia today, January 7th! It is a very special time for Georgians. On this day, traditional marches called “Alilo” are carried out all over the country, usually accompanied by joyful signing. During the march, candies and other donations are also collected to be handed over to charities. On Christmas Eve, Orthodox churches remain open as Georgian families await the stroke of midnight to say their prayers, followed by a meal with traditional Georgian wine, in anticipation of the arrival of Santa Claus, who is known as “Tovlis Papa” or Grandfather Frost.
