First Filipino Visual Artist to Exhibit in Georgia

GEORGIA EXHIBIT 1

On November 27 – December 3, 2014, the Consulate of Georgia in the Philippines, led by Consul (a.h.) Thelmo Cunanan Jr. in partnership with the Georgian National Museum, will be holding an exhibition of master Filipino visual artist Pancho Piano at the Museum of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Mr. Piano is one of the Philippines’ foremost mural painters and stained-glass artists. A native of Naga City, his works have been exhibited internationally, in cities like Rome, Vienna, Berlin, London, Tokyo, and Paris, to name a few. Locally, his murals and stained-glass masterpieces are found in many churches, cathedrals, museums, and fine private establishments all over the country. To add to his numerous distinctions, Mr. Piano will now become the FIRST FILIPINO PAINTER to exhibit in Georgia and the entire Caucasus region.

Entitled “Colors of Hope”, Mr. Piano’s exhibit will be composed of paintings of Georgian landmarks and natural wonders, interpreted in his own style, whilst focusing on the theme of love and care for the environment. He will also perform a live and collaborative poetry, music, and mural-painting demonstration, in partnership with noted Georgian poet Lasha Gelashvili, and hold talks with Georgian painters and art students.
