On August 31, Consul Cunanan was the guest of Ms. Charito Planas, a former Vice Mayor of Quezon City and prominent civil servant and socio-civic leader, in her top-rated afternoon radio show “Bakit?” on UNTV Radio. The program airs on nationwide AM radio at 1 p.m. every Sunday.
In their one-hour discussion, Ms. Planas and Consul Cunanan talked about Georgia, the country’s relations with the Philippines, and the different cultural, educational, and economic initiatives being carried out by the Consulate to bring the two countries closer together.
In particular, Consul Cunanan talked about the academic MOUs between Philippine and Georgian educational institutions and other people-to-people projects. They also played “Chakrulo”, a traditional and very famous Georgian folk song about love of country.
Other topics discussed were nation-building, cultural advancement, and values formation for the youth. Consul Cunanan also took the opportunity to publicly thank the faculty and staff of Holy Spirit College, headed by Dr. Elina Young, with whom the Consulate recently signed an MOU for the annual showing of Georgian movies in the school, coupled with a yearly film donation.
