Georgian Consulate Welcomes Dr. Ong as Medical and DRRM Director

The Consulate of Georgia in the Philippines (NL), led by Consul (a.h.) Thelmo Luis O. Cunanan Jr. proudly welcomes Dr. Rodrigo Ong as its Medical and Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Director and a member of it board of advisers. As DRRM Director, Dr. Ong will be responsible for crafting an emergency and response plan for Georgian citizens in the Philippines, in order to ensure their safety and security in times of national disasters. He will also extend free medical assistance to Georgians in the country.

Dr. Ong is a graduate of the University of the Philippines where he obtained his degree in Chemistry in 1995. He then continued his education at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center where he graduated and was conferred Doctor of Medicine in the year 2000. He is a board passer of both Chemistry and Medicine licensure examinations. He also passed the Medical Acupuncture certifying examination of the Department of Health. Dr. Butch specializes in Medical Acupuncture, Sports Medicine, Pain Management, Disaster Medicine and Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Butch is a veteran in the field of DRRM, with over 20 years of disaster preparation and response experience. He often participates in relief and medical assistance efforts. Dr. Ong is the medical director of Rescue 926, Inc. a non-government organization that provides emergency assistance to communities during national emergencies.

Later this year, Dr. Ong will travel to Georgia with Consul Cunanan where he (Ong) will give a series of lectures and talks about DRRM.
