Consul Cunanan and Consul Anna Marie Ablan of Belarus will be holding a joint screening of Georgian and Belarusian movies, in partnership with De La Salle University, for the latter’s faculty and students at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Room 508 in the campus’ Yuchengco Hall.
The first film, which was provided by the Embassy of Belarus in Jakarta, will be the short feature movie “And Khatyn Will Live On” (26 minutes). The second film, courtesy of the Georgian National Film Center, will be the classic “Father of a Soldier”. Both movies are widely-acclaimed and commemorate the struggle of Georgians and Belarusians in World War II.
There will be welcome remarks by Mr. Julio C. Teehankee, Dean of the DLSU College of Liberal Arts, followed by speeches by Ms. Ablan and myself, in behalf of their consulates, and Br. Michael Broughton FSC, Vice Chancellor of DLSU. The films will be introduced by Dr. Clodualdo del Mundo Jr.of DLSU’s Department of Communication. There will also be a short ceremony marking the formal donation of the two movies and several other Georgian and Belarusian cinematic masterpieces to the DLSU Library.
Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. Melissa Dizon-Dulalia, Public Relations and Tourism Director of the Consulate of Georgia.
