Consul Cunanan and Mr. Philip J. Chien, President of Global News Network, were the special guests of the Philippine Embassy in South Africa, during the official ceremony to commemorate the 115th Anniversary of Philippine Independence. The event was held in the morning of June 9, 2013 at the Embassy grounds in Nicolson St, Muckleneuk, Pretoria.
On June 8, 2013, Consul Cunanan attended a dinner, hosted by Republic of China (Taiwan) Representative/Ambassador to South Africa Michael Hsu at the latter’s official residence in Pretoria.

The function was in honor of Mr. Philip J. Chien, President of the Global News Network, the Philippines’ fastest growing news channel, who is visiting southern Africa to explore business opportunities.
